One of the things that LTL is most proud of is our teachers, they are simply amazing and truly make LTL what it is. At every LTL school whether it’s Beijing or Taipei we make sure to only employ the best teachers out there.  

We know that we have the best teachers in the business because of our strict recruitment process for teaching staff at LTL Mandarin School. All LTL teachers must have a Bachelor’s or a Master’s Degree in ‘Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language’ (对外汉语). During this four year course they learn how the Chinese language works, how to teach it to foreigners, and learn more about their own culture. They are also required to pass English language exams and do work experience placements.

Before your arrival in China you will be assigned your own Student Advisor who will be there to help with any questions you may have and help prepare you for your trip. Once you arrive in Xi’an our Immersion Specialist will be on hand for any general queries you may have (such as the best place to get Shaanxi noodles!)

We also offer a number of extra add-on services that many newcomers find helpful in the first few weeks, while they adjust to life in China.

All LTL students are covered by our 24/7 emergency support guarantee – we sincerely hope you won’t need it, but should you need emergency help whilst living in Xi’an, we’ll only be a phone call away.

Our Homestays

The quickest and most effective way to learn Mandarin isn’t just sitting in class and learning. The real key is making sure to use your Chinese outside of the classroom in real day to day situations.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or an advanced speaker, getting out there and putting into practice what you’ve learned in the classroom will make your progress so much faster.

One of the most effective ways you can truly immerse yourself in Chinese language and culture is by choosing to stay with a local Chinese family during your course.

This is actually what the majority of our students do, choosing to become part of a Chinese family and experience the real China.

For those who want to take the immersion experience to the next level, there’s also our Immersion China program, in which you’ll spend half of your program in the rural city of Chengde – where you really will be surrounded by the Chinese language 24/7!

LTL Mandarin School is a fully-accredited member of the International Association of Language Centres (IALC), the world’s first and oldest association of private language schools.

This means we operate the school based on the IALC Code of Ethics and are subject to regular inspections.

The Chinese Government has recognises LTL Mandarin School as an ‘Accredited Provider of Cultural Programs’ and also an official exam centre for the HSK Chinese Proficiency exams.

English is the main spoken language in and around the school.

However, the truth is, you’ll hear a whole host of different languages being spoken and the great thing about our environment is everyone has the same passion.

After a number of weeks of studying Chinese together, you’ll get an English speaker and a Russian speaker communicating in solely Chinese.
